Founded in East London in 2006 by childhood friends Will Beckett and Huw Gott, Hawksmoor has built a reputation as one of the UK’s best steakhouses. What started as a single restaurant has grown into 14 locations across the UK and Ireland, as well as restaurants in New York and Chicago, while staying true to the same philosophy: exceptional steak, responsibly sourced seafood, seasonal British ingredients, and a real commitment to animal welfare and sustainable farming. Their beef comes from native British breeds that are pasture-raised, dry-aged, and cooked over live charcoal to bring out as much flavour as possible.

They’ve recently launched a new lunch menu featuring some of their most-loved classic dishes, and I genuinely think it’s one of the best lunch menus in the city.

The absolute standout has to be the Steak & Bone Marrow Pie, served with rich Madeira gravy and finished with an incredibly buttery croissant pie crust. Honestly, it’s one of the best pies I’ve ever had. The filling is packed with tender beef, the gravy is rich without being too heavy, and that flaky croissant pastry takes it to another level. Just keep in mind it’s only available Monday to Saturday, from 12pm to 3pm, so it’s worth planning your visit around it.

If you’re after great value, don’t miss their Express Menu, where you can enjoy two courses for just £26. It’s available Monday to Saturday until 6:30pm, and all day on Sundays, making it one of the best quality lunch deals you’ll find in Manchester.

And whatever you do, save room for dessert. The Sticky Toffee Sundae is already a Hawksmoor favourite, while the Blueberry & Lime Cheesecake is light, fresh, and the perfect way to finish the meal.
